If a 15% Tax on Energy is Good for the Environment, Would 25% be better?
Question by Dr Jello – AGW RIP 1980-2010: If a 15% Tax on Energy is Good for the Environment, Would 25% be better?
Mother Earth is in trouble! The only way to save her is to raise taxes! Is 15% tax on Energy enough, or would 25% be better?
After all, this is your planet we’re talking about saving!
Should we be more like California when it comes to environmental issues?

heck lets make it 100%, that’s what the proposed net taxes will be if we mandate CO2 restrictions and we trade (speculate) in CO2.
Who wants to be like CA, they are broke and in a death spiral on their environmental rules.

Sounds like you are referring to an Energy Tax Credit. California offers a 7.5% Green or Renewable Energy Tax Credit, meaning 7.5% of the acquisition cost of the items can be deducted directly from the person’s State Income Taxes. So basically the State would receive less tax money, not more. The whole idea is to get people to invest in renewable energy. Renewable energy being solar & wind.
Congress is considering a 30% Tax Credit for residential energy storage devices used in conjunction with renewable energy systems. Amounts to collecting energy & feeding it back into the power grid.
So in answer to your question 25% would be better than 15%, but not for the reason you are thinking. Tax Credits actually reduce taxes vs raising them.

California is broke because her taxes are to high and all manufacturing has been or is going to be banished from the once golden state. California will now become the earth state where everything is brown and dirty because there is no money to import water from other states to wash off the dirt and dust to keep things clean. AndI am old enough to remember how nice this state used to be under Reagan, Dukemajen and a couple of others long ago.

Just biuild your own magnet motor generator, cheap and easy to build and get off of the grid all together, Cost less than 2 months Electric bills and very little maintenance and very quiet. Set up a few and run any house as if it were on the grid.

If 15% doesn’t do it, they’ll make it 25%. It’s a tax designed to change behavior. They’ll make it as high as it needs to be to change behavior.
